Weeks After Alanamu’s Inferno, Yaman Donates 5K To Victims

Weeks after the infamous Alanamu inferno occurred in Ilorin, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Shuaib Yaman visits the spot.

Yaman ghosted the state after winning the primaries and didn’t visit the state for months.

The estimated worth of goods lost due to the inferno is several millions, the Governor who visited the spot promptly disbursed millions to offset the victims’ loss.

Yaman, according to sources, didn’t want to visit until a series of backlash and threats of votes decided to visit the spot.

Yaman while condoling with the victims donated N700,000 and grudgingly walked away.

Sources present said the visit lacks necessary support and welcoming expected of a gubernatorial candidate because the lackluster attitude he earlier portrayed as exposed his insensitivity to issues of state importance.

A victim of the inferno who pleaded anonymity said, “Even the N700,000 he dropped isn’t complete.

“The people he sent to deliver the money removed 200k, gave the PDP guys in the area 150k to share amongst themselves and left us with 350k.

“I lost about N1,000,000 to the inferno. With the support of the governor, I got N1,000,000. Yaman came today and gave me 5k which I used to buy airtime on the spot.

“Some people got as low as N1,500, he’s not a serious candidate.”A PDP Chieftain from Alanamu contacted by our correspondent absolved him of blame saying he’s completely broke and still sourcing for campaign funds.

“Yaman doesn’t have money, he’s completely broke, he’s an overhyped politician.So as to avoid spending money, he even didn’t come home for the Ileya festival, because he knew he would have to settle party leaders and others. Even the 700k he gave the victims must have been released by Gbemisola Saraki” he said.
