Emir of Lafiagi Constitute Education Committee
In light of the identified problems and gaps in educational sector in Lafiagi Emirate, the Emir of Lafiagi, HRH Alhaji Mohammed Kudu Kawu has constituted a committee of highly reputable and erudite scholars; sons and daughters of Lafiagi Emirate drawn from the teaching profession to lead the revival process.
The monarch at different times and in several fora has expressed concerns over the alarming rate of out of school children roaming the streets of Lafiagi and other adjoining communities, constituting nuisance in the society and are thereby subsequently recruited to join gangsters who have been identified as perpetrators of some of the social vices in the communities.
It could be recalled that the monarch through the Emirate Council called for a security summit in Lafiagi in November aa part of activities marking the formal presentation of First Class Staff of Office by the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq where security experts and resource persons spoke to some of the challenges responsible for the increasing rate of insecurity in Lafiagi Emirate.
Part of the recommendations by some of the speakers during the security summit is to ensure that all children of school age must be enrolled into Elementary Schools.
To holistically approach the issue of out of school children which has in recent years resulted in child trafficking and prostitution, Alhaji Kudu Kawu has taken a deliberate step towards proffering workable solutions to the menace and hence the composition of the committe to come up with a comprehensive report that will address all the challenges.

The committee is to be headed by Dr. Zubairu Ibrahim Tswachi, Former Laddu National Secretary and Senior Lecturer, Federal Polytechnic, Bida while Alhaji Abdullahi Ladan Mohammed who is the Education Secretary, Edu LGEA will serve as the Secretary of the committee.
Members were selected from all educational institutions; head teachers of primary schools, Principals of secondary schools and lecturers in higher institutions including Alhaji Dauda Abubakar. O. Quality Assurance Bureau, Lafiagi Zonal Head, Abubakar M. Mohammed-ANCOPSS Chairman, Lafiagi Zone, Alhaji Abdullah Alfa-Deputy State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers and Alhaji Umar Umar, Chairman Edu SBMC.
Others are Alhaji Manzuma Ndanusa, Lukpan Lafiagi, Alhaji Ibrahim Manko, Laashan Puta, Alhaji Mohammed Saba Liman, Daniyan Ndeji, Alhaji Sheshi Jibril Abubakar, Sheshi Kpotun Woro, Alhaji Jibrin Likpata..Ndazhitsu Likpata, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed (SK), Hausa Community, Alhaji Tijani Ahidjo, Fulani Community, Hajiya Adishatu Shafiyi, Principal LSS, Hajiya Rakiya Aliyu, Headmistress, Central School and Hajiya Aishat. N Idris, Head mistress -Etsu Umar Primary School.
The committee is expected to submit her report within three weeks.
