ASD COMPLETES TOUR OF EDU/MORO/PATIGI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
- received overwhelming support from party leaders
Ahead of the forthcoming primary elections of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara state, a frontline politician and aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Salihu Danlami’s constituency tour received unanimous support.
The tour of the constituency which flagged off in Lafiagi, the Headquarters of Edu Local Government, drew out party stalwarts and political bigwigs from all the four political wards in the Emirate.

The stakeholders, party members and executives in attendance during the meeting were quick to remind the aspirant of their long-term needs, demands and the negligence that has accompanied their participation in previous elections which they noted has hampered the socio-economic growth and development of the people in the grassroots.
In Lafiagi Ward IV, which encompasses all the riverine communities in Lafiagi Emirate; communities that have suffered from acute water scarcity and lack of access to road networks, the people were specific in their demands for decent living through sustainable agribusiness opportunities and initiatives while emphasizing on the need for functional healthcare facilities for the local population in the hinterlands.

Tsonga Ward II and III was no different in their demand for responsible and responsive representation. The speakers decried the long absence of federal government intervention projects and patronage in the whole of the entire stretch of the agrarian settlements; from lack of healthcare facilities to dilapidated school infrastructure, poor road networks and lack of access to clean water supply for domestic use, the elders made emphatic case for the predominant farmers for assistance in terms of provision of farming inputs to cushion the astronomical increase in the prices of goods and services.

One specific request from the people of Tsonga Ward II that resonated in the mind of the aspirant which brought him close to tears is the reconstruction of the linkage road that connects Tsonga and Bacita, which has reportedly been cut-off, leaving the people with only one passage route in and out of Tsonga. This they said has affected movement of goods and services especially the transportation of farm produce to target markets in the areas.

The next stop for the campaign trail was Patigi Local Government where stakeholders and party executives from all the ten political wards converged to receive Lastborn as he’s fondly called amongst his supporters.
The people of Patigi Local Government received him wholeheartedly and assured him of their unanimous support. The leaders who spoke on behalf of the people urged him to justify the confidence and support that has been reposed in him by ensuring that democratic representation is taken to an enviable height through inclusion and participation.

Moro Local Government was the last but not the least as women and girls trooped out to receive their son. It was a well-deserved welcome from the people of Moro; at Shao, the Ohoro was full of praises for the aspirant and wished him success in the forthcoming primary elections.

At Bode Saadu, the Baale and the Daudu were on ground to receive and pray for him. They equally decried the poor state of infrastructure in the ancient town and implored him to give topmost priority to human capital and infrastructural development.

The crescendo of the memorable tour to Moro was at Jebba where teeming supporters and youths were waiting at the Oba of Jabba’s Palace for his arrival. The nonagenarian monarch despite old age was on hand to receive ‘Abolore’. Different speakers extolled the virtues of their visitor with his humility and respect endearing him to the masses.

Responding to some of the concerns raised, ASD reassured the leadership of the party in each of the three local governments of his commitment to rewrite the history of democratic governance in the federal constituency in return for their usual support and consistent participation in the democratic process, noting that equal opportunities will be given to all in the affairs of the federal constituency as it should deservedly be.

He said the time has come for the good people of Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency to enjoy democratic dividends in the likes of human capital and infrastructural development even as he assured them of accessibility and high sense of patriotism and responsibility in bringing good governance closer to the people.
